Slave Master Mentality with a Kick!!

When you though the Knicks drama was dying down, then comes Draymond Green to add an extra kick( Pun Intended).

The  Golden Warriors All-Star added his opinion on Knicks owner & the lead singer of “JD and the Straight Shot” James Dolan. Green, the pride of Saginaw Michigan sounded off on his “Dray Day Podcast” and stated the following:

“No. 1 — (Oakley) is a legend. Treat him as such,” Green said. “Why is (Oakley) buying a ticket to a game, first off? … It wasn’t a problem when (Oakley) was speaking out (when he played in the 1990s). It wasn’t a problem when he was protecting (the Knicks’) superstars then. So if it wasn’t a problem then when he was doing it for y’all, why is it all of a sudden a problem now when he speak out on something that he don’t like, and now you want to disown him from your entire organization? … That’s a slave mentality. A slave master mentality. That’s ridiculous.

“It was all fine and dandy when he was laying people out, taking fines, and all this stuff for your organization. But now all of a sudden, when he say something that he feels, it’s a problem. I disagree with that. I definitely think, like I said, that that’s a slave master mentality.”

Green went on the assumption that Oakley played while James Dolan was the Knicks owner, which Oakley was long gone once Dolan took over the Knicks. Green also discussed the handling of the Dolan as he stated that Oakley may have a substance abuse issue by stating:

“How, as an organization, can you come out and say ‘we hope he get help?’ Get help with what?” Green said. “… That’s not something that you say to the world. That’s not classy at all, because at the end of the day, if he does have an anger problem and he was OK with the world knowing that, he’d be speaking out about it. He’d be on boards of anger management type things. So it’s not OK for you to go say that to the world, as a multi-billion dollar organization.”

Here is my take… so Draymond has a compelling case (in my opinion) , but in this day in age using the word “slave owner mentality “is loaded yet dangerous.  I’m not 100% on board on calling James Dolan a slave master, it’s more like Dolan is entitled with the I can say or do what the hell I want to do attitude!

Vaseline to MVP! Re-Invent Yourself!!!!

It’s funny that today out of all days I was thinking I need to re-evaluate my life…. I know once you hit your 30s it seems like life is at a standstill to say the least. As I was formulating a plan to re invigorate myself  & blog I ran across a story that truly inspired me.

Do you remember this NBA Standout ? This guy from Georgia Tech with immense potential (that many suggest that he didn’t live up to the hype) the guy who played for several NBA teams including the New York Knicks( where many said he was at the forefront of the Knicks dysfunction).  The guy who was the poster child of jokes (thank god there wasn’t memes back then) after the MSG & Vasaline situation.

What if I told you that this 38 year old former NBA Standout has completely changed the narrative of his life. Once regarded as an enigma Marbury became a 3 -time champion (2012, 2014, 2015)of the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association .Marbury has a statue, postage stamp, & a musical inspired by his 2nd act in Beijing. In March  Marbury captured his 3rd championship  ( Averaged 29.7 PPG, 4.8 Rebounds, 5.7 Steals named Finals MVP) and to cap off a great 2015 a 300 square feet museum will open on December 28th to honor Marbury’s career with the Ducks.

So in life when you feel like your at rock bottom or feel that your current situation will be your final destination….draw inspiration from Stephon Marbury and re-invent yourself!!!!

Couch Coach 2014 NBA Playoffs Preview: Heat vs Nets

Rest vs rhythm: The two-time defending champ Miami Heat enters the semifinals well rested as they swept the Charlotte Bobcats last week. The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Toronto Raptors in game 7 yesterday and off short rest they face the Heat Tuesday.

The Heat find themselves in similar predicament, last year the Heat dusted off the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1st round and waited nearly a week for their semifinal opponent Chicago Bulls conclude their 7 game series. The Heat lost the 1st game and went on to win four straight to take the series. The Heat have undoubtedly have the best trio in the league spearheaded by Lebron James. James is carrying the load while Dwayne Wade is slowly emerging from his injury woes. Can the heat overcome their issues and advance?

The Nets finally reached the semifinals after last year heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Chicago Bulls in the 1st round . The Nets re-tooled as they acquired Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett…guys who put the fear in the Miami Heat. The Nets are a matchup headache for the Heat…this team was built to beat the heat. The Nets swept the season series (4-0) , 3 of the games were decided by a single point & the other game went to double overtime. The Nets will give the Heat its biggest test thus far.

Most Intriguing Matchups:

Lebron James vs Paul Pierce

Dwayne Wade vs Joe Johnson

The Nets Win if:  Kevin Garnett outshines Chris Bosh and Paul Pierce come through in the clutch.

The Heat Win if:the big 3 play like the big 3 of the past, Chris Bosh has to get the best of an aging KG &DWade must stay

Prediction: Heat in 7!!!!!
