Cousins, Hield Highlight All-Star Night Trade !

Last week Coach Calipari said a team filled with former University of Kentucky Wildcats  players would beat the Golden State Warriors or Cleveland Cavaliers to win a an NBA championship . After pondering that I thought , damn he’s right( projected lineup: John Wall, Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns & Demarcus Cousins). The first thought was how could you stop the Demarcus “Boogie” Cousins and Anthony Davis front court? Well New Orleans GM Dell Demps was probably thinking the same thing as he pulled off the following trade:

Pelicans Recieve:  Demarcus Cousins,  Omri Casspi

Kings Recieve: Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, 2017 1st round pick (Top 3 protected) , 2017 2nd round pick

USA Today

This trade has a slice of irony  with a hint of interesting to say the least.

Boogie Cousins was on pace this summer to be the highest player in NBA History (under the Designated Player Extension aka DPE) as he was expected to sign a 5 year $209 Million dollar contract extension. The DPE clause was actually put in place to keep Cousins in Sacramento, in this case the Kings could offer him more money than any other team if he was to test the free agent market. The Pelicans can only offer Cousins a 5 year $180 million dollar deal.

The Kings once again are in rebuilding mode. For the life of me I totally don’t see a plan. The only piece that can make a immediate impact is Buddy Hield , who is averaging over 8 PPG. The draft picks in this strong draft class could help but its actually possible they may lose a pick. Their original pick is a top 10 protected pick ( which its possible that they will probably land a top 10 pick and keep their pick). Now the Pelicans pick ( the one the Kings aqurried in the trade) looks like a possible 17-22 overall pick. The building piece will probably be a pick in the 2017 draft.

#MondaMorningCouchCoach Week 4 NFL Recap

1) Which Team had the biggest win in Week4?

Los Angeles Rams! Huge win @ Arizona to earn their 3rd straight win. With wins against the Seahawks and the Cardinals the Rams looks like the team to beat in the NFC West.

2) Which Team had the biggest loss in week 4?

Carolina Panthers! Losing to a Divisonal foe in the Atlanta Falcons  is bad , but giving up 48 points is doubly bad!!!
3) At the Quarter mark of the season who is your ….

Coach of the Year: Mike Zimmer,  Minnesota Vikings

Offensive Player of the year: Derek Carr, QB Oakland Raiders

Defensive Player of the year: Von Miller LB, Denver Broncos

Offensive Rookie of the year: Carson Wentz, QB Philadelphia Eagles

Defense Rookie of the year: Su’a Cravens, S Washington Redskins

5) Who’s your top 5 teams going into week 5?

#MondayMorningCouchCoach  NFL Week 3 Recap

1) Which team had the biggest win in Week 3?

– The Minnesota Vikings! I was shocked that the Vikings ( despite losing Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson) pulled off the biggest upset of the week. The Panthers are lights out at home. When the Vikings were down 10-0 in the 1st quarter I definitely didn’t think they would reel off 22 straight points to defeat the defending NFC Champs. Mike Zimmer’s Vikings are playing with a chip on their shoulders.

2) Which team had the biggest loss in Week 3?

– The New York Jets.  Losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 24-3! Early on I predicted the Jets to make the playoffs due to the re-signing of Ryan Fitzpatrick….<Insert Egg on my face> . I totally understand that QBs and other players have bad games, but 6 INTS Fitzy…..really ….GTHO…..! I honestly thought a game vs the Chiefs would be a statement game boy was I wrong……

3) Which (3-0) team is unlikely to make the playoffs?

In my opinion every (3-0) team currently will make the playoffs, but out of the 5 undefeated teams I think Minnesota Vikings will not make the playoffs. They have a favorable schedule down the stretch , but they still have to go to Lambeau Field on Christmas Eve in a battle for the NFC North tittle.

4) Who gets the GameBall for week 3?

T.Y Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts : 8 Rec , 174 Yrds, 1 Td

5) Who’s your Top 5 Teams going into week 4:

1) New England Patriots

2) Denver Broncos

3) Minnesota Vikings

4) Philadelphia Eagles

5) Baltimore Ravens

Josh from Ashburn saves the Redskins

Being a huge fan of Hard Knocks & I’m always fascinated about the process of how teams cut players. Usually before a player gets cut they receive a call to come to the coaches office and bring your playbook. It’s sounds like a typical protocol for all 32 teams right.. Well my beloved Washington Redskins dropped the ball! Ejiro Ederainen was cut by the Redskins and a fan found his playbook & several other play books in a clear trash bag near a hotel where Redskins rookies stay during Training Camp.

The Fan now know as “Josh from Ashburn” called The Junkies Radio show & described the contents of the playbook. Josh said: “It has breakdowns and handwritten things of the new calls, like the defense change the call or whatever. He scratched it out and put the new verbiage for it. I mean it’s got everything “.  Josh also stated that the playbook had audibles with descriptions of what guys are suppose to do.

This should serve as a learning to all 32 teams in the league that when a player is cut please take their playbook . Luckily the playbook went into the right hands and possibly save their season and also the Redskins need to get the playbook from “Josh from Ashburn”
